Revival or Continued Complacency!
1. With the man born blind in Jn 9 "Who sinned, ... that he was born blind?" we always are looking for an excuse to vindicate our responsibility and guilt. The question was: do we blame parents - our past to justify our future; or did he sin in his mothers womb?
Jesus said "Neither this man nor his parents ... but so that the work of God may be displayed in in his life".
Displayed - made manifested, visible, mercy shown.
Jesus challenged a state of mind. Could He be saying this to us today:
Let us step from the porches of tradition to the ghettos of the impossible and begin to drink the cup of revival!
When you fail to confront your culture you lose influence and power with God and man. You become blind -like Sampson ... walking like a Mule in circles.
2. Revival is not something confined and measured and grown in air-conditioned buildings.
Mt 9:1 Four men ripped the limitation of perception off of our ceilings and allowed crippled humanity to invade privacy.
Revival is declaring another King, and His Kingdom is both: forgiveness of sins, and divine healing in the same bugle blast, one breath, one sentence.
Revival comes when the coverings of a small minded leadership are ripped off by a desperate few. Jesus could not wait to display the gospel in the cripples life. Revival broke in!
3. In Mk 1:40 Leprous rejection, pain, and putrefaction, erupted from a garbage hole in a city to walk the streets of no name again. Volcanic liquid lava of compassion, reached out His hand and revival poured into the lepers soul, and body. This has forever silenced the question, "if you are willing, you can make me clean?"
Revival comes to those with lean hands and a pure heart.
4. In Mk 10:46 Revival stops the parade of spiritual complacency and cries out with a different voice. "... have mercy on me!" Revival has a voice. Healing has a voice. Salvation is the voice.
Let your soul become like a wilderness again and begin to cry out like a "voice in the wilderness". Revival will come to your city again! It's not a wave, it's within you.
A voice that comes from under a cloak of opinion and throws it away, because he wants to see revival.
5. In Jn 5:1 the sterile expectation and power of God kept a man in one place for 38 years, a form of godliness but no power. Until a voice said! A voice that shook the porticos, shattered the silence of apathy, dust fell from the rafters as the words, thundered from the Ancient of Days.
"Do you want to get well? ... Pick up your mat, and walk!"
What ... do .... you .... want!
The man was asked by those who froze faith in a deep freeze of religion, and judgment, "Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?" He did not know.
He did not know his time of visitation or power ... Know what to say to the question. Who is He? Who do you say I am? Mute to the supernatural presence of God.
Revival has the power to change a tomb to a womb of resurrection life.
Revival is wanting the presence of God more than life.
Revival walked in and asked a question - what would your answer be?
Revival leaves the catacombs of complacency and is prepared to enter the battlefields of humanity.
South Africa, awaken!
